summer reading

I've decided I need to read some of Rainer Maria Rilke's work this summer. I've come across a few beautiful quotes by him lately and am needing to make a trip to Powell's to grab some of his books...

Be patient toward all that is unsolved in your heart and try to love the questions themselves, like locked rooms and like books that are now written in a very foreign tongue. Do not now seek the answers, which cannot be given you because you would not be able to live them. And the point is, to live everything. Live the questions now. Perhaps you will then gradually, without noticing it, live along some distant day into the answer.


Perhaps all the dragons in our lives are princesses who are only waiting to see us act, just once, with beauty and courage. Perhaps everything that frightens us is, in its deepest essence, something helpless that wants our love.

So, we all have that one song that is our all time favorite song... right? You never get sick of it no matter how many times you hear it... whatever emotional state you're in when it comes on, it simply amplifies it ten times over.
For me that song is "hallelujah" sung by jeff buckley (originally done by leonard cohen). My reason for bringing this up is that mark and I have recently been discussing what song we want to playing when I "walk down the aisle" and we actually both thought of this one... We have a string quartet playing the ceremony and are thinking about asking them to play a version of this... any thoughts?



or another option.... this song but done by the string quartet of course (although who doesn't love regina's version?)

so mark and I recently attempted to start our wedding registry... after many glass and sterling silver items later I'm starting to wish we could add a little more fun to it all. Granted its all things that we need and want, but wouldn't it be fun to also throw some items like this on there?

engagement pics... round one

last weekend mark and I went up to the nisqually national wildlife refuge where mark's brother, steve, took some pictures of us for our "save the date" postcard which we need to get in the mail asap... despite the rain and enormous gusts of wind we managed to have some fun out there...
